Cecilia and Jason Hilkey
Hi, we’re Cecilia and Jason Hilkey. We are partners in life, in love, and in business.
We’ve hosted 8 online conferences for parents (and counting) reaching people in over 190 countries. In just 4 years, we added over 100k people to our email audience using conferences.
But we didn’t start this way…
We first got interested in helping parents online when we were preschool teachers. So back in 2012, we taught our first online parenting class. That was when the word “webinar” was still new.
A few years later, we quit our teaching jobs to work online full time. The business wasn’t an overnight success. We tried everything–offering coaching, blogging, social media, offering classes, doing public speaking, etc. But we started to struggle financially.
A friend suggested we put together an online conference for parents, so we did. Without hiring anything out, without any special training, and without connections to “famous” people, we produced our first online conference in 12 weeks.
We did it all while working out of a nook off the side of the kitchen. Parents loved it! And we made more money online than we ever had before. That first conference nearly tripled the size of our audience. And it saved our business!
But even more importantly, it was the first time online we felt we were really making a difference in the world. Our lives and careers have always been about service and helping. We were (finally) having the impact that we wanted.
Fast forward to the present day, we’ve interviewed over 200 experts (many of them are now our friends). Our online conferences are the most well-known in the parenting space. We still have a small staff and our home office is not fancy. But we’ve moved into a great house in our dream location. Life is good.
